More than £1.5m of new technologies will be unveiled at MACH 2012 (16th – 20th April) by one of the UK’s leading industrial groups.

The Midlands Assembly Network (MAN) - a collective of ten world class manufacturers in mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering – is using the show to display recent investment in new machinery and processes that will improve speed, quality and capacity.

Precision components supplier Brandauer is the biggest spender after investing £750,000 in two new high-speed fully automated Bruderer power presses. It represents the largest single investment in the company’s history, with the new machines able to produce a staggering 2 billion parts ever year – opening up £2.5m in potential new sales.

The BSTA 510-125B2 will actually be on display at Bruderer’s stand at MACH before being transported to Brandauer’s Newtown factory for installation ready for the start of production in May. Barkley Plastics, which specialises in design, tool making and injection moulding, is also eyeing expansion after it channeled nearly £450,000 into the purchase of a new Hurco VMX64T CNC machine and a Battenfeld Microsystem 50, which will give the firm a high-precision, micro injection moulding facility.

Together, the investments will help strengthen its presence in its core markets of automotive, construction products and white goods, not to mention an exciting new project in alternative energy.

Gerry Dunne, Chairman of MAN, is looking forward to the show: “MACH 2012 is one of our most important exhibitions and this is reflected in the major announcements we are making as a group.” He continued: “There’s a lot of talk about manufacturing being on the up…well our collective of ten manufacturers are proving it by putting their money where their expansion plans are.

“All of us are seeing major increases in enquiries and, significantly, a move towards the repatriation of work and projects back into the UK. That has to be good news.”

The Midlands Assembly Network is made up of ten companies, including Advanced Chemical Etching, Alucast, Barkley Plastics, Brandauer, FW Cables, Lightning Aerospace, PP Electrical Systems, SMT Developments, Westley Engineering and Wrekin Circuits.

Backed by a strong international brand, the group offers customers one central point of contact to ten firms all boasting different manufacturing disciplines, state-of-the-art factories and a combined 650-strong workforce.

Its expertise spans from aluminium castings, pressings, fabrication and electronic control systems to PCB manufacturing, chemical etching, precision machining and specialist wiring looms. Other investments being unveiled at MACH 2012 include:

• Advanced Chemical Etching has recently extended its production facility in Telford by 15,000 sq ft

• PP Electrical Systems has invested more than £1m into the latest automated cable preparation and crimping technology and is about to build a new logistics centre

• Wrekin Circuits has purchased a Schmoll X-Ray Drilling machine, able to drill 0.1mm mechanical global holes.

MAN will be on stand 4313 at MACH 2012. For further information, please visit www.man-group.co.uk or contact 0845 034 6676. You can also follow it on twitter @man_group_
